New Art & Fabulous Finds
I had the best delivery today! The mailman brought me this absolutely gorgeous artwork from Dawn at The Feathered Nest. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and it came today. Isn't it just beautiful? It's even prettier in person, I just didn't have the light to show it off. It is going to have an honored place in my home, but for now, to keep it safe while I'm decorating, it's resting on top of the china hutch in the dining room.
I also made a quick trip to the nearest Goodwill yesterday, and what a score! Here's what I found:

There's a picnic basket, a cute little wicker luggage purse, a metal plate hanger, cute wooden primitive horse, a primitive birdhouse, a piece of Buffalo China cafeware, and a Beta jar that reminded me of apothecary jars. I spent a little more than I had planned, mostly because the little purse was $6, but still, for $20 for the lot, not bad, eh? Man, I love thrift stores.
I also found a piece of furniture that I'll have to post a picture of tomorrow.
Hope you all had wonderful Thanksgivings!

Nice Goodwill score! I love hitting the good old Goodwill (and now both kids like treasure hunting there as well)!
That reminds me, it's about time for another visit...
Oh, and The Viking says he used cabinet-grade plywood and "white ice" paneling (the faux beadboard) for the cupboard, all available from The Home Depot. Good luck!

The gift is beautiful. I'm not a Goodwill "regular" but I try to visit there on occasion. I collect a few books and love it when I can find a bargain there. One of my friends goes nearly everyday and I'm amazed at all the treasures she gets at terrific prices.

I love that piece of art! So perfect for your house. hell, it would be perfect for us too but look totally different.
If you're not planning on putting a real bird in the bird cage maybe you should get one of Alicia Paulson's paper mache birds to put in it.

I love thrift shops too. It looks like your Goodwill has a lot better finds than mine.

This is a lovely site, although I had problems navigating to one of your posts. I wanted to leave you a note in sympathy for your lost kitties. It's never easy, although it's good to hear they passed of natural causes/old age. I love that the camellia bloomed on the day of the kitty's passing. ONe life ends, another begins. Reading your site may inspire me to do more on the inside of my house, not just in the garden!
