Color Challenge Results: Green

Color: Green Roundup

So, now, better late than never, I really want to celebrate all of YOU by showcasing all the fantastic green posts that you all submitted! Such an inspiring crop of fresh Spring green I have never seen. I hope that you’ll take the time to check them all out and enjoy.

Update: Our little monthly bloggy color fest has been featured in the blog of color expert Kate Smith, with lovely comments about her favorite item on each of your submissions! Check it out!

If you're just stopping by and missed the beginninng, you can see my green challenge post here.

As for the color themed posts, here they are in original comment order:

Annie at Annalunda
I’m so glad Annie is first this time! Her blog is so sweet and full of Swedish loveliness with a down to earth flair. You’ll find roses (always), antiques, linens but also fields, farm life and family, and this post is no exception. She kindly posts English translations of all of her posts, mostly so I can read them, so please, do me favor and leave Annie a comment so she believes me that other English-speaking readers are enjoying her blog, too!

Courtney at Nesting Instincts
One of my favorite colors to pair with green is blue, and Courtney has some lovely examples of this in her green post, from flowers to glass, and you know how I love glass.

Jill from Forever and Ever House
Ooooh, a green room! I love, love, love this color. Jill has posted new pictures of her family room makeover in which the walls are a lovely, perfect shade of green that I will be copying very soon. I have been wanting to use green in our family room, but I was worried about pairing green with brown (probably childhood flashbacks), but in Jill’s room it looks fantastic. She also posted the before picture from the previous owner, and WOW! I wouldn’t have even believed it was the same house. Thank you, Jill!

Nancy from With Thread In Hand
Nancy is a fantastic quilter, and so you think you’ll see lovely sewing-related green things on her green post, and you’ll be absolutely right. Cute fabrics, adorable needlework and a pretty vintage painting as a plus.

Tara at Days Missed on a Hammock
Tara has given us a fresh green spinach salad to much on while we peruse the other home posts, and I love it. I can’t wait to try this recipe or the crab cakes recipe with it. Yum!

Jen at Sanctuary Arts at Home
While you’re over checking out the gorgeous hand-painted plates and her daughter’s adorable bedroom valance in Jen’s green post, make sure you cruise around the rest of her blog and see her spectacular furniture makeovers. This girl’s got talent! And her birthday is the day before mine. We won’t discuss the lack of similarity in years, but I always say any girl with an April birthday can’t be bad!

Emily at Remodeling This Life
Before I go on and on about Emily’s fantastic writing ability and her wonderful blog, can I just say that I really want her couch!? It’s the perfect shade of blue-green that I love, love, love and the pillows that are on it: adorable! And please, Emily, will you explain to me how you can have so many gorgeous saturated colors in your home and it looks fantastic???? When I try to use bold colors it look like a circus threw up on my house. I’m jealous.

Ahem.

Okay, now I can also say that while you’re over at Emily’s place, please take the time to read some of her blog posts. I know a lot of us are used to cruising for the eye-candy and we tend to skip the actual writing part, but Emily’s posts are some of the best on the net, focused primarily on frugality but also touching on decorating, life and everything in between. Definitely worth reading.

Katie from Harrington House
Katie has impeccable style, and this is clear on her green post featuring lovely antiques, flower arrangements and her daughter’s sweet green dress. And the artichokes in the hurricaine? Gorgeous.

Janet from Idaho Quilter
Janet’s working on a cute country quilt featuring a pretty green fabric. And you know how I love fabric!

Glenda from Enriched
Glenda’s green post features another fantastic color of green paint in her bathroom. Love it. Where did you get it, Glenda? I love it.

Linda from Restyled Home
If you’re skipping around looking for which of all these fab blogs to visit, definitely put Linda’s blog on your list. Not only is her green post the most scrumptious collection of eye candy, but her whole blog is fantastic. Linda was one of the first bloggers to support me when I first started out and she has a wonderful energy, generous spirit and perfect taste. Check it out!

Lisa from Celebrate Creativity
If you’re looking for a green post that you can recreate at home, then check out this totally springy fun project post from Lisa! I swear, that woman has more talent in her little finger than I have in my entire life. If you like this project, check out the rest of her blog—it’s one fantastic project after another! How does she do it? Seriously!

Yolanda from Bliss
What can I say but WOW. If you are a gardener or long for the beauty of a gorgeous outdoor space, you will want to see Yolanda’s green post. And her blog. I’m constantly blown away by the garden lusciousness that she posts.

Bri from MB and Baby Makes 3
Another green room! I’m impressed. What color is it, Bri? Hop over to Bri’s to see her green space, her cute baby and lots of green.

Jill from Bailiwick Designs
Jill’s green post starts right from the top with a gorgeous vignette including a distressed green birdcage, and just gets better from there. Gorgeous photography and fantastic style. Love it.

Mrs. B
Green and white is so fresh and elegant at the same time. Mrs. B’s green post opens with a pretty, palest of pale green hydrangea (one of my favorite flowers) in a white pitcher, and it’s just lovely. While you’re over there, check out the April 1st post on making an ottoman. Fantastic!

Lorrie from Fabric Paper Thread
You know, I’ve always wanted to find a real fishing float and never have. And until just now had never met or known anyone who had either! But Lorrie’s green post has an absolutely beautiful one right up front. Very pretty.

Carol from Terra Nova Design
Carol’s creative green post focuses on the popular use of “green” to mean eco-conscious. Which is fantastic. The rest of Carol’s blog is also great, with tons of good gardening adventures and photos.

Lynne Laura at A Romantic Nest
For those of you who love the wildly romantic, you definitely must visit Lynne Laura’s blog. Her post features a vignette she created with a pretty green garden chair, a tole-painted watering can and layers of romance that you have to see. So pretty!

Carrie at Oak Rise Cottage
I think you all know how much I love dishes. I especially love pitchers. So it should come as no surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed Carrie’s green post. Dishes, pitchers and more – what a great collection!

Poppins at Poppins’ Tradgard (Poppins’ Garden)
I’m pretty sure I’ve told you about Poppins’ blog before, but I’m going to tell you again. As you may know, I’m a Northern European Blog Junkie (that’s NEBJ, folks), and Poppins’ is one of my favorites. The photography is absolutely stunning. STUNNING. I could drool over those pictures all day (and when there’s cake involved, and there is, I meant that literally). Scroll down to see the English language version of the post.

Kramiz from Kullervilla
A wonderful gardening blog, Kullervilla has a flair for the unusual, finding unique subjects for the beautiful photography. Check out the gorgeous shots near the top of the flower bloom and the… moss? Is it moss? I don’t know. What I do know, is that it’s beautiful!

Kimberly from Niesz Vintage Home
Speaking of flair, Kimberly here has one too, but hers is for designing and sewing the most original, innovative bags ever. EVER. My personal favorite is the seasonal bag that you can swap out fabrics for seasonally. I can't explain it, you'll just have to go see. Run, don't walk!

Tuija from Ruusuja ja rikkaruohoja (Roses and Weeds)
I think you know how fond I am of Swedish blogs. And Dutch blogs. Well, now I'm getting to be a fan of Finnish blogs, too! Tuija's garden blog always has lovely photos from her garden. Her green post also includes some interior shots, including one with a piano in a room with fantastic wallpaper. Fantastic!

Sew Delish
And last, but not least, a cute collection of greens from the crafty Sew Delish. My favorite photo is the shot of all the spools of thread in every shade of green and turquoise. Yum!

Green Toolbox

And, now the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the drawing! Who will be winning this super-cute handpainted wooden trug?

Drumroll, please…..
Jill from Forever and Ever House!!! Congratulations, Jill!

And if you did a green post and I missed it, please e-mail me or comment here. The drawing is already done, but I’ll still include you in the round-up. So let me know!

~Angela :-)

P.S. The color for April is yellow, so be thinking about it! I’ll post the challenge early next week.

Girl, were you trying to make me cry?!?! You are so sweet. Thank you for all the sweet sweet words of support and I have to tell you, I have no idea how I make bold colors work. I just use them and it seems to come together. I am not afraid of much, except anything original to my 60s ranch :)

I can't wait to scroll through the list and visit everyone else's green posts!

Thanks, Angela! And so glad you're back. I don't want this to sound creepy, but I have wondered where you've been almost everyday. I miss your inspiration.

Angela, Thanks for stopping by. You asked about my thrifting. Up until the end of March I had a huge space at an antique/junk shop. I basically bought and sold. I went to thrift, resale, yard and estate sales buying home decor. Some old some new. I tried to keep up with current trends and it worked. I love to decorate and my space was like having another room in my home. I loved it. I have chosen to lay low for awhile and just shop for my mom(also a dealer in California) I need more time with my kids and husband. I was so busy that I felt overwhelmed and my home was suffering. That doesn't work for me. I am going to take about 6 months off or so. I would be happy to answer any further questions.

Lovely to pop into your blog. I am definitely taking up the yellow challenge! I will be around to get the details next week. Eleanor at Thatchwick

Thanks for hosting the green posts! Awesome stuff here!!
Glad you are back into the blogosphere. I can relate to the work schedule. I am nearing the end of a very full semester of teaching and haven't had much time to keep up with the blogs. And now there is the start of the gardening season too! Yeah!

I have begun following the gardens of Emily Dickinson this Spring. Her house is 3 2 doors down from mine. I'll be updating the Emily's Garden posts each week, interspersed with other ramblings.
Swing by for a visit!

There should be a law against posts like this.;-) It took me hours to visit and admire all the blogs you've listed today. And I'm spending way too much time on blogging as it is already.

Seriously it was fun and I've enjoyed myself a lot. It's amazing how many green things there are in this world. Thanks for your kind words about my blog and for hosting this green event, Angela!

Congrats to Jill for winning this lovely prize!

glenda:

Glad to see you were ok. I was a bit worried too.

And in answering your question, my dried fave green bathroom is Kilz brand paint. It was what my local hardware store carried and at the price of gas, I am doing more shopping locally.

Thanks for posting all those links. How Fun!
