Color Challenge: Yellow

Color Challenge: Yellow

April is my favorite month of the year, and not just because it has my Birthday in it! It's also the month in my area that Spring officially springs and the sunshine starts to be fairly reliable. It's the month that I start thinking sunny thoughts and start craving yellow. Lots and lots of yellow! So, just in the nick of time, here's our Color Challenge for April. You guessed it: yellow!

To participate, here's what you do:

  1. Put up a post featuring yellow from your home or garden. Make sure to include a link back to this post.
  2. Leave a comment here with the URL of your yellow post. Please, leave me the URL to the specific post, not just to your home page. I get confused easily! :-)
  3. That's it! On the evening of May 4th (a week from tonight), I'll close comments, draw a winner, and post a summary later next week.

I just love doing these--it's so fun to meet and see so many people each month! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! :-)

And, as always, here's a few things from my home to kick things off:

Yellow Quilt

This quilt is one that I bought rather than made, but I just love the pink flowers on the yellow background and the scalloped edge. (And get a load of that gorgeous cherry tree blooming in the neighbors' yard!)

Garden Painting

You've all seen my thrifted garden painting before, but I can't help but show it again. It's one of my absolute favorites, and it's sunny yellow flowers brighten my spirits every day.

Desk Lamp

The other thing that makes me smile is the warm glow of the lamps on my desk. They look so welcoming and cozy.

Daffodil

And of course, you can't talk about yellow without talking about the cheery Daffodil! I'm having my first Spring in the new house, so I didn't know I had these until they popped their sunny heads up.

Last, but not least, you may have noticed the photo at the top with the strips of yellow fabrics. I cut those over a year ago for a quilt that I intend like to make but still haven't. But my loss is your gain! :-) The lucky random winner of the yellow challenge will win a custom made pillow cover featuring these fabrics!

I can't wait to see what you all come up with! :-)

~Angela :-)

Comments are now closed! Check back later this week for the round-up and the winner! :-)

Expect a yellow post from me Angela, but have you seen Heather's at www.heatherbailey.com ? Just LOVE the yellow she's got going on over there.

Here is our home, our neighbor and a few houses a little pit farther.
Here is lot of yellow houses in our home town Hamina. :)

Hey Angela,

I have a birthday in April too!!! It was on the 10th so yes I am an Aries! I am not sure when yours is and my oldest son's is today!! He turned 8!
Anyway I am going to try and do this since I have been buying so many yellow things lately!! This should be fun!

I love yellow. So warm and inviting! I wish our house was painted so I could share it since it's going to be yellow. I know I have some good yellow around here though so I'll get mine done this week.

I *love* that quilt!! And I too just adore the warm yellow glow from lamps.

Hi Angela,

Thank you for your kind words regarding my hearts and opening my Etsy store!

Love the fabric pictures and that wonderful quilt! I too have a yellow backgroud quilt with roses but it's a bit different than yours. It just gives you a warm glow inside just looking at it. I will join your yellow challenge...what fun!

Kind Regards,
Lynne Laura

Hi Angela,

It was fun to write about the green round up on Color For Your Home but this time I think I'll play along.

It will be fun to share a bit of sunny yellow with some pictures of the yellow in my own home.

I did a yellow post earlier this month. Here's the link...

Yellow is a perfect color for April! Have anything in mind for May?

Hi Angela! That quilt is beautiful! I knew this was coming so I've already snapped a couple of yellow pictures. I have lots of yellow in my kitchen, so I'll have to get a few more pictures. I'll come back and let you know when I post them!

Hi Angela!

How fun... but a bit difficult with yellow...but I´ll try to be in! A lot of nice things you show us...and the green post and room before is so marvellous!

Love Annie

Cinj:

Ha! Sounds like me when it comes to making a project. I have all of these ideas I start and never seem to get around to finishing.

HI Angela...I love those material scraps...perfect mellow colors. I also have a yellow post on my website. I can't wait to see what else everyone comes up with.

Hi Angela, this is my first time to take part in your color contest. What fun!! It was perfect for me this month. I am yellow person all the way.
My post is up. Here's my link:

I will be back to check everyone's entries..but sadly, I don't think I have anything to add. The entire interior of our barn/home is black, cream and dark red. Around Thanksgiving I have some amber colored things I use to decorate, but no yellow.

Meg:

I just recently did a post all about yellow because I was craving for sunshine. The yellow was making me happy!

I found this and already posted a comment earlier today. I took the challenge and posted my photos, etc..., but I have a problem. I don't know how to link back to my specific blog or to your blog. I hope that you will still consider me. I'm sorry! I tried to figure it out...but no luck! SORRY!

Erin:

Angela -

I just figured it out! Cool! Here's the link back to my posting of the Yellow Color Challenge. I just don't know how to link your site on my end. I'm trying!!! Tell me that counts for something! :)
