Dining Room Furniture

Dining Room Furniture

Because I've been so focused on the living room renovation, I didn't really spend too much time getting ready for Thanksgiving with my dining room. But I did make a few changes.

The bar top finally got cut down, so I was able to rescue my big table from being stuck in the corner. And I had some excess test paint from the paint sampling process that I slapped on the wall just so I could stop looking at primer.

You'll notice that all the chairs are mismatched and half of them look like office chairs. This is because all the chairs are still at the other house, being used for staging the dining room at the other house. Sigh.

The best part, though, of the dining room so far is this awesome jelly cabinet. I bought this about three years ago, ironically in a consignment shop here in the town I now live in, though at the time I lived over an hour away in the city. I never had a great spot for it in the old house, but I dug it out from under the pile in the garage and it works just perfectly here. Yay!

Now in the corner, where the dining area was theoretically supposed to be, I now have this great china hutch I got on craigslist for free! Yes, that's right, free! I had to rent a truck to pick it up, but it was worth it. It needs a few small repairs and some new paint, but I'm completely thrilled to have it.

I'm still a long way from that neat IKEA dining room display, but I'm getting there!

I still have a lot of projects in here, but I'm still working on the living room, so it'll have to wait. Except for one thing, I just ordered this awesome chandelier from greatchandeliers.com--I'll tell you all about it as soon as it gets here!

Angela,

I love the free hutch. I know it was once some Mediterranean monstrosity from the 70s, but with the paint and antiquing it looks very "now". You gotta love "free". Can't wait to see the chandelier. Stop by for some cookies at my place and have a cup of Joe while you are there.

Honestly Angela, everything you touch turns to gold!! Your dining room looks great, finished or not...I kinda like those chairs, by the way...but then again, I like eclectic and avoid being overly "matchy-matchy"!!

Linda

Sigh....I've given up on Craigslist. I'm always too late! But you got a wonderful piece. Free is the best price! That jelly cabinet is fabulous - I really like the fabric. Your dining room already looks good!

Can't wait to see what you'll do with your dining room. I'm already starting to feel like my decorating is much too predictable....ha!

Oh Man, you gotta love Craigslist! I got my Chambers stove off Craigslist the very first time I ever used it!

Your dining room looks great and I just love that jelly cabinet!

When I type in one letter, my google pops up a list. Perhaps, it's a prererence that I didn't know I chose! Great hutch. I just turned up a free iron chimenea on the side of the road yesterday. I really must take a photo.

Hi!
Thanks for stopping by and the sweet comments! Isn't it so much fun to dream of what your home will look like "when...". ? :)

So I absolutly love your FREE hutch! I just bought a $40 credenza from a consignment store here and going to have 3 men move it for me this morning (extremely heavy!)- it is HUGE! So excited. They called it a credenza- but I am making it an offical hutch!

Can't wait to see more of the progress of your home!

Kaylyn

Great free hutch! Wow!
And I love the fabric on the door of the corner cupboard, so pretty.

Kimberly :)

Angela. I just love your white dining room. My house has so much color and every so often I'll show my husband a picture of a room with soft colors and tell im I'm thinking of changing to a softer pallette. He never has an opinmion about any decorating I do , but when I say that he always tells me he likes it colorful! Thank you so much for adding my blog.

Lisa:

Love all the pretty white. So clean and crisp. Very pretty china cabinet too-my favorite.

It is easier to concentrate on one room at a time...at least for me unless every room has the same color scheme.

I think you're dining room is looking great! I really hope you don't get to the actual kitchen for a while because you know I am not emotionally strong enough to see your kitchen transformed when I'm so far off of making my own better.

No, wait, go ahead, I'll just come over to your house to cook.

Hi Angela, your decor is simply beautiful!! A free hutch, how lucky are you!!! It looks fab, it ALL looks fab!! We'll be back :) Jenn and Jacqui

Hmm, I think I may have to pay closer attention to craigslist when I visit. Your home looks beautiful! I don't think I will tell my real estate hubby that you took furniture out of your home for staging, or things may start disappearing around here. :)

Would you mind telling me what kind of cabinetry you used in the room adjoining the dining room. I have a 1,600 square foot cottage and am having storage issues ! However, I have a long wall where cabinets like yours would work. Thank You, Kelly

Michele:

I'm having so much fun going through all the old posts! You have so much wonderful stuff to share, and it's truly inspiring!!

I love that hutch, adn I can't believe you got it for FREE!!! You can't beat that! And that other cabinet is beautiful, too!!
