Best,

How long has Cottage Magpie been around?
I started Cottage Magpie waaay back in the fall of 2006, can you believe it?
What camera do you use?
When I first started, I used a little $150 Nikon, and it took great photos. I was very happy with it and many, many, many of the photos here are from that camera. In 2008 I decided I wanted to try upgrading, so now I use a Nikon 850 SLR. Love it.
How many houses have you fixed up?
So far, my current home is my third fixer-upper. I hope to have more!
Can you review my book/product/service/website?
I do actually do reviews, but on other sites, not at Cottage Magpie. For more information, contact me at any of the addresses listed above.
Can I advertise on Cottage Magpie?
Sure thing, as long as you’re advertising something of interest to my readers. To inquire, e-mail me (see above for address).

I am covering 16 X 16 pillows. Should the finished pillow be 16 X 16 or slightly larger to accommodate bulk of pillow? Thanks! Pam
Hi Pam! Thanks for asking. The finished pillow cover is usually the same size as the pillow itself so that it’ll be nice and plump in the cover. Let me know how it turns out! ~Angela~
Good Afternoon,
I stumbled onto your blog and although I’m a new reader, your gardening posts have me hooked already! I did start following you on Facebook too. With that said, I live in the NW also (WA) and our houses are very similar in style. We have a 1 1/2 story and it’s a very similar street view. I do have a similar front yard garden set up, not quite exact but we’re on the same page for sure. Great minds think alike! I’m not a big fan of the garage and driveway taking up the majority of the entry/view but it can be improved. We did a path to our front door so that street parking (where guests and deliveries mostly park) have easy access to the front door without the need to maneuver between vehicles and toys in the driveway. It was a DIY project, we’ve learned a lot and still go back to make adjustments as needed. It’s great and totally functions!!! We also have a fenced area off our garage section very similar to yours only ours sets along the street with a sidewalk. For that reason, I didn’t want to draw attention to the gate, making it too inviting for others but I really love how you have done yours! The gate is defined and warm but does keep privacy too. I must know: what is the vine growing over there? I can guess but can’t really tell as the pictures are from a ways back. Keep up the great work!
Hi there Christie! So glad you stopped by!
I am so with you on the garage taking up SO much of the facade, but I’m hoping someday to make it prettier with good details. Flowers, lights, etc. etc…. Probably not for awhile, though!! I really want to do a path to the front door, too. Someday!!
Oh yes, the vine. On that gate over there I have two things growing. There’s a Lady Banks climbing rose, and a purple clematis. Most of the bulk is the rose. I really love it. I have taken some pictures but haven’t put them up yet. Still working on that, too!
Thanks so much for stopping by! ~Angela~
Thank you so much for getting back to me. Vines are amazing, I’m in love. We just planted climbing roses to go up our chicken run…who knew the chickens love eating rose petals and the thorny vines are a great natural deterrent for raccoons?! Learning everyday and our yard is a never-ending work in progress. I’d love to see more pictures! In all your free time right?! Truth be told, I’m really thinking about starting a blog of my own but I’m totally still working on that too
Poked around your blog and signed up for emails…we have a lot in common!
Well, of course, I support you in starting your own blog! Then I can see pictures of your progress, too!
I would love to have chickens but haven’t quite figured out the logistics of that yet. Free time, like you said! Ha! Nice to hear from you! ~Angela~
