OK, since I’ve been freaking out about what to paint everything in here, I did some playing around in Photoshop so you could see what I’m thinking about. Of course, as I showed you the other day, the place is a wreck:
And it’s nearly impossible to do digital makeovers on messy rooms.
I do have a slightly cleaner picture from a couple of months ago:
So I decided to just go ahead and use that, but digitally add all the stuff I’ve added, like the buffet, plates, yellow cabinet, etc…
So with those things added, it looks like this:
Which is a pretty good representation of what it might look like right now if it were clean-ish, right?
OK. So. Then next I looked at all of my inspiration pictures again, then used Photoshop to paint all the trip nice and white (it’s just primer right now). I also decided to paint the table white, because I think it’ll be easier for photography over here to have a white table rather than some other color. I kept the walls cream. I also added in a colorful stitched pillow on my chair and a couple of mocked up things on the table to help hide the stereo and organize the colorful yarn I have (notice my stereo hider is teal!).
Which got me to here:
And this is where I get stuck.
My original plan was to paint the buffet. I couldn’t decide on white or yellow or what, but then I saw great buffet, also for a craft room, and fell in love with this color.
It’s “Agate Green” by Sherwin Williams. Great, huh? But Mr. Magpie wants me to strip the wood and try that. Which I’m sure it would look beautiful, you know, like this:
OK, here’s both of them in the room:
Of course, it will be totally affected by the rest of the choices — the chair, the little coffee table, and so on. Let’s see.
With the green buffet…. maybe wood coffee table and white chair?
Or, maybe the chair should be pink???
Now, what about the wood buffet option. Let’s see. I would probably paint the coffee table white, but I could still have my pink chair:
And I could paint the work table the green instead:
Or if the pink seems too much I could go with a blue chair:
OK, getting confused again. Let’s just look at the two simplest choices and I’ll leave the rest of it the same.
Green buffet, white table, wood coffee table:
Wood buffet, green table, white coffee table:
So, I think these are the main contenders.
Oh wait, I missed one. Wood buffet, white table, green coffee table:
What do you think? I really thought I would want the painted buffet, but the beautiful glow of the wood is so warm, (and this room tends to seem “cold” because of the grey northern light), I’m kinda thinking I might dig it. But I can’t decide!!
What do you think???
