As I mentioned on Facebook, I’m down for the count right now. I thought it was just a regular cold until I tried to get out of bed yesterday and ended up stumbling, sweaty and sick, to the bathroom. It got worse from there.
Today I can sit up without the room spinning around me, but I am still couch bound. So I haven’t been able to share with you any of the Christmas presents I finished just before I got sick, the bits of decorating I had done and was planning to do before the plague made landfall, or the little bits of handwork I’ve been doing to while away the time here while I wait for my health to return.
Meanwhile, the kids are doing an unhealthy amount of e-babysitting (thank you Netflix) and here’s a sneak peek of all of those things.
Only two more Christmas presents to go, and then I can focus more on my workshop, more on the garden, and start thinking about next year’s gifts. I have a fantasy of getting them all done before summer is over so that I can enjoy the holidays more.
What about you? Are you still working on last Christmas? Planning for next? Managing to stay healthy? I hope you are.
As for me, it’s back to bed again.
xoxo,

I hope you are better soon and the family stays well.
Thank you, SJ. Unfortunately the entire family is ill — I was the last one to succumb.
Lots and lots of couch happening here! ~Angela~
So sorry you are ill. I hope you have a fast recovery, but don’t rush it. Bad stuff going around, as usual in the winter.
Thank you, Barbara. I am on the couch right now and plan to stay here until I’m fully recovered, which I hope is soon!!! ~Angela~
Oh, bless your heart…..take good care of yourself! And get well soon because I can’t wait to hear about that GORGEOUS buffet? cabinet? up there!! You are in my prayers. Dona
Hee hee! Yes, Dona, it’s a buffet that Mr. Magpie found at the Goodwill for me a couple of years ago. It’s 7 feet long, and I am going to incorporate it into my workshop! But I’m going to have to get rid of this plague first. Sigh. ~Angela~
So sorry to hear you have been sick. I have heard that if you come back too soon, you may suffer a relapse. Be careful.
You asked about Christmas. I finished my few presents that I made for Christmas but the reception I received from the people I knitted for left a little to be desired. So I decided very selfishly that this was “MY” year. I am only knitting things for me at this time. I will probably change my mind but I don’t think people really realize how much time and effort goes into hand crafted presents.
Thanks for listening,
Mollie
Thank you, Mary, and that’s a good reminder, especially for me. I’m terrible about that. I start to feel better and then jump off the couch and into action and…. whammo. Busted back to the couch. So I’m trying really hard not to do that this time!!
I think it is so cool that you are going to knit just for you. I have to be honest, I made the same vow right after the holidays were over. I have been making handmade gifts for years, and I still don’t know if they are really appreciated. As you say, they take a LOT of time and energy! In my case, though, I literally can’t buy people presents. I have a huge stash of supplies, so I can make presents from that, but I can’t buy presents because we just don’t have the money. I was really in a quandry!! But then I gave my Mom the placemats that I had made her (those blue stripy ones above), and she was SO THRILLED. She loved them. She said she was going to hang them as art. So that renewed my heart quite a bit and I’m already planning next year’s presents. But yes, I’m going to do some things for me first and try to sprinkle in the other things so it becomes no fun anymore.
Hugs to you! I hope you’ll share the things you knit this year for yourself! Very inspiring!
~Angela~
I hope you’ll feel better soon. I’m completely exhausted lately + have a couple more symptoms that make me think I have a kind of anemia… We’re waiting for the results to see what’s exaclty missing in my body… I barely can cope with my day at work and when I’m back home I only think of going to bed… It’s 7pm and I’m struggling to read a few posts before cuddling with the cat in bed!
Oh my, Magali, that sounds awful!! I hope you find out what’s wrong and it’s an easy fix!! Big hugs to you. ~Angela~
Oh no! Feel better soon!
Thank you, Rachel, I will try! ~Angela~
Take care of yourself, my friend. This stuff is nasty! We had to have my dear mother transported by ambulance to ER last week. Same symptoms and a very sick lady. She’s doing much better now. There IS light at the end of the tunnel but it seems like a long time coming. Love your photos. Get well!
~Adrienne~
Oh no! And right at her birthday time, too! I hope that she recovers quickly! Hugs! ~Angela~
hoping for a quick recovery xo
Thank you so much, Katherine. I am feeling much better and as soon as I catch up with my backlog of work I’ll be able to start posting again! Yay! ~Angela~
Hope you all on the mend.
Thank you, SJ. I am finally starting to feel better!! Whew! ~Angela~
I thought I missed getting sick but I’ve been feeling it all week. Good to hear you’re doing better, I hope I’m back on my feet soon. I have gardening and other outdoor work to do and this is holding me up.
Thanks, Jenny. I know what you mean! The garden calls, doesn’t it!
~Angela~
Dear Angela,
I was kind of worried that you weren’t posting anything. Are yous still sick? I’m sending healing vibes to your part of the world.
Magali
Thank you so much, Magali! I have finally recovered, I’m sure your healing vibes had something to do with it, too! I got better a bit ago, but then I was so behind at work I had to really scramble to catch up. It’s that double whammy that you don’t realize until later. Now I’m all better and also caught up, so I can post again! Yay! Thank you for your sweet thoughts, they made my day. ~Angela~
