In the quilting world, UFO is an abbreviation for Un-Finished Object. While this usage had been common to apply to all works in progress, with the advent of social media an the confusion with using ufo as a hashtag, many quilters have dropped it in favor of the term WIP. For those who still use the term UFO, it often refers to an unfinished project that has been neglected or abandoned, or the quilter is feeling some reluctance or aversion to completing the project.

Angela Grace’s first quilt was started when she was 18, given away unfinished when she was 22, gotten back when she was 34 and finished when she was 39.
